Analog and other stuff for trade.

Analog and other stuff for trade.

2006-02-01 by Matthew Hiscock

Hi all,

Forgive the quasi-off-topic nature of this post, but I was going to put
some stuff up on Ebay. It's mainly to raise funds to buy more
MOTM/Oakley/etc stuff, though - so if any of you have modules you're
not using, in MOTM format, and any of this stuff tickles your fancy,
drop me a line (off-list!) at info (at) bodega-audio.com and perhaps we
can work out a trade, or money-augmented trade using Paypal or the
like.

For sale/trade:
- 1 Oberheim Matrix-6R - very nice, used *extensively* for all the bass
sounds and stabs on the second and third releases on my house/techno
label (clips up at www.bodega-audio.com) but, as one would expect from
Oberheim, also a fantastic source of pads.
- 1 Vermona DAF-1 - stereo analog 1v/oct filter, up to 96dB/oct, if you
run it in series. Highly destructive, in a good way. Lazer-sharp
resonance and total sonic destruction, if you want it to be. 1 rack
unit.
- EMU e6400 - I've been using it as the ultimate digital oscillator and
feeding it through the modular, which works quite well, but on its own
it's still one of the finest samplers out there.

Looking for:
- Filters! MOTM-420/490 or Oakley SVF are the ones I'm looking for
mostly, but would consider others.
- MOTM-310
- MOTM uVCA
- MOTM rack frame
...would consider other stuff as long as it's perfectly functional and
in the MOTM (or perhaps even dotcom) format, though the above is the
priority stuff. Kits are fine too, as long as they have already have
everything I'd need to build, like in MOTM kits.

I'm on Ebay as bootlegsounds - 100% positive feedback so far - and am
located in Montreal, so if there are any other Montreallers out there,
we can certainly arrange meet up.

thanks for your time,
Matthew

Um, no, it doesn't have a 96db mode. You are doing the doubling twice in
your head, or something. ;-)

Please allow me to quote from the DAF-1 manual:

    7.4 The mode SERIAL
In this mode two low-pass filters with 24 dB/octave
were linked serial, the result is a low-pass filter
    with a filter slope of 48 dB/octave.

But they're two *stereo* filters, so if you run it into one side, then
into the other, it equals 96dB.

I find 96dB/oct a bit much, personally, but still... its an option.

No, bro, the DAF-1 is a stereo filter. Two mono filters. DAF = Dual Analog
Filter.

Well, it's an option if you've got a pair of DAF-1s. ;-)

John, please read the very first page of the manual, where it says "two
integrated 24dB filters per channel".

That would be 2 x 24db filters per channel x 2 channels. In what way
does that not add up to 96?

Matthew was right the whole time, and I'm a moron (at the very least, I had a big mental block).
Please accept my apologies.

my best DIY so far...

2006-02-01 by Dino Leone

apologies for taking up bandwidth, but since I'm so
damn happy I just have to share this:

Our son, Roberto, was born on Monday! I'm sooo happy!
Everything else suddenly isn't (so) important anymore.
Of course this means a little less time for MOTM and
sdiy, but that's quite alright at the moment. This is
simply the best and most extraordinary experience in
my entire life!

Best Wishes,

Dino (immersed in happiness)

No probs.

Oh, I should have mentioned, the 3 things are all cosmetically
excellent, with only a small ding on the front of the Matrix that is
hard to see in most light. There was a mod done to one of the pedal
inputs that makes it a function as an on/off function that steps up
through the patches when triggered. Not sure how to describe it.
Apparently it's quite an easy de-mod if that's not your cuppa.

[official end of spammish talk - thanks for the bandwidth]

Was there a 9-month wait on that item?

Talk to Paul H, I'm sure he can get that down to a few weeks.

;)

The believe the pertinent equation looks like this...
4 x 440 = 96db
