Another New Module Idea

Another New Module Idea

2005-12-28 by Mike Marsh

OK, again probably not new.

I'd like to see a envelope generator that will send a trigger when the
envelope has finished its cycle. That way you could hook the trigger
to the next EG whose done trigger would hook to the next EG whose
trigger woulf hook to a note source for the next note. You could get
'delay' out that. Or if you hook the trigger outs creatively,
something like an ASR, or even something really weird.

That would be cool.

The UEG does that. http://www.encoreelectronics.com/UEGManual2.pdf (page 7)

You could probably add this to an existing 800 by tapping the voltage
which sets it into release and then using a comparator to measure the
output voltage. When it's in release and the voltage = 0 fire a one
shot. Alternately, just set a flip flop when the voltage goes positive
and reset when it reaches 0 again. Then differentiate.

Speaking of envelopes, will we ever see the MOTM envelope follower? I
know it's not the most exciting module, but with Oakley's not available
any more we don't have a default MOTM format envelope follower.

I'm waiting for the MOTM-810 VC EG, which has cycling features. Will it
have an end-of-cycle output?

For an envelope follower, if you have any type of Full Wave Rectifier
try patching that to a MOTM-820 lag processor. Should work in a pinch.

A comparator, huh? Hmmm...I have a couple of MUUBs...maybe I'll cook
something up...

Re: Another New/OLD Module Idea - KE/JJP

2005-12-29 by coyoteous

Well being that "this newsgroup is more of a Keith Emerson kind of place" (I'm
still trying to figure that one out, Dana*) and KE didn't need no stinkin'
envelope followers! - I guess we don't need them either?! ;-)

Seriously, I DO need envelope followers - so I guess it's Blacet , DotCom, etc.
Anybody else want a MOTM envelope follower?

*I have room in my heart for KE and JJP - 'The Happy Moog" and ELP were
some of my first exposures to pop(?) electronic music. Good luck with your
concert, Dana!

If I can ever get the filter EG done, it has an "end of cycle"
trigger.

I have a MUUB circuit that does full wave rectification, and another
that does lagging. Also, there is a MUUB comparator (or two) on the
breadboard at this moment. These circuits will all be posted within
the next few weeks as I get them finished.
