[motm] Alesis Ion - Realistic Drum Kit demos - mp3
2005-12-14 by Kenneth Elhardt
Note that I've just gotten back online and am just seeing messages and private email from my last demos (I'm having computer problems). I read them and I'll answer them in a couple of days after I write up anything that needs to be answered. I'll answer why a synth has knobs (most synth manuals will tell you), why one emulates acoustic instruments (I thought we were synthesists, not sample triggers), and whatever else I need to. In the meantime, following is another Ion demo you can listen to. I have only heard this on headphones as I am not able to get it off this PC until I can get the USB ports working again to hear them on speakers. It's a full drum kit I spent days on. Since it's a pain in the neck to play drum sounds on a keyboard monophonically and multitrack them to create the end result, it is rather short (52 seconds). This demo shows, tight snappy toms, huge heavy toms, metalic snare, snare with attached tambourine, snare with emphasized head sound and reduced "snappy", hi-hats (should have played at higher pitch), cymbal crashes / splashes / taps, and more. I used some of the techniques from my MOTM renaissance demos in programming them. http://home.att.net/~synth6/Ion_Drum_Kit.mp3 -Elhardt
