850 Pedal Interface question

850 Pedal Interface question

2005-10-19 by Greg Amann

The blurb on the 850 says that you can interface Roland and Yamaha
pedals with this module. Specifically which types (and models) of
Roland and Yamaha pedals. I am particularly curious to find oot if
passive pedals can be used.

as far as I know, you can use any pedal that contains
a pot. And you adjust the 850 according to the
resistor range of the pot in your pedal.

I'm using 2 MOTM850, one controlled from a Yamaha
pedal and the other one from a Korg pedal. Works
beautifully, flawlessly!! I just love the 850! Can
do cool filter sweeps and lots of other great things
with them...

Best,

Dino

RE: [motm] 850 Pedal Interface question

2005-10-20 by John Loffink

From the MOTM-850 user guide:

The MOTM-850 can interface to 2 basic types of pedals: resistive and
voltage-out. Resistive pedals use a 3-conductor (stereo) plug, because 3
signals are needed: ground, voltage IN and voltage OUT. CV Out pedals use a
2-conductor plug (mono) and only needs ground and CV OUT.

The pedals we will use as examples for 'resistive' types are the Roland EV-5
and the Yamaha FC7/FC9 series. They are probably others, but these two cover
the kinds you are likely to use.

I use a Roland EV-5 passive pedal with the 850 and works great. The
pedal interface module was originally designed by Stooge Larry, as I
recall...
