Indeed! The expanded 480 panel will be one of the new Stooge panels.
In fact the design of the panel was strongly influenced by Larry Hendry
himself. With Larry's input, I came up with a 3U panel that provides
separate inputs and outputs for the two filters. Each filter has two
inputs with attenuators, and all three outputs. There is a separate
reversible FM attenuator pot for each filter. Each filter has its own
1V/Oct, FM, and RES control inputs. The builder will have the option to
wire up normalized connections on the panel to achieve a default signal
path identical to the original 480. The control voltages can also be
normalized together, so the only thing really different would be two FM
pots instead of one.
Virtually no circuit modifications are made to the original 480, except
for the addition of buffers for the four additional outputs. The need
for these was part of the instigation of the MUUB board you have heard
about from Scott Juskiw. One MUUB-4 board will provide these four buffers.
I drafted some instructions on how to do this modification, but since I
have not built mine yet (until the Stooge panel is available), I haven't
yet included details about the mechanical construction. I do not know
for sure what bracket I will use. Options are the original bracket, or
a Stooge 4-pot short or 4-pot long bracket.
So this is a collaboration between myself, Larry Hendry, Scott Juskiw,
and of course Dave Bradley who is doing the art for Stooge version of my
panel design.
