Power Connections

2005-08-01 by Tkacs, Ken

I believe several people on this list are using Neutrik Speak-On
connectors to bring power from a main cabinet to a satellite cabinet.
Can any one tell me (or point to a web site) exactly what parts you are
using, including what kind of cable is being used (or wire gauge or
whatever) for the internal and external harnesses? Part numbers (Mouser,
Newark, etc.) are always appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I clued Larry H. in to some 12 ga. speaker cable from Carvin for this purpose. He
reports it is perfect. It comes with speak-ons on each end, cut it in half and attach
speak-ons to the cut ends. That will give you two 5 foot lines, which is probably as
long as you want to go with low voltage. Carvin's cat. # is SP10 for the 10 foot four
conductor cable, and you'll be ready for the coming +5 volt modules. Strangely
enough, their web site is carvin.com.

Mouser #s for the cable connectors is 568-NL4FC. Chassis mount connectors for the
cabinets is 568-NL4MP.
