D/A converters?

D/A converters?

2005-03-16 by Mike Estee

y'all,

anyone here have some advice for picking DA converters for a CV circuit?
I'm looking for something I can generate pitch levels at a fairly high
sample rate (say 48khz). I don't even know where to begin. I'd like to use
analog devices chips as I can source them easily.

thanks,

depends on how much precision you want. I've reccently used the AD7945
12bit DAC for a module that generates CV. For my application I didn't
need any more precesion than that. I'm updating it at about 100KHz and
it should go quite a bit faster than that. order some samples to try.

also, Paul posted something about this on the SDIY list once, look here:

I'm looking for a DA to generating rapidly changing 1V/oct CV
signals. I'm trying to build what is essentially a sequencer, but probably
closer in functionality to the UEG. I guess this would be a DC signal with
a rather linear response.

Thanks Tom!

I would use one of the ADI 16-bit DACs with a SPI interface.

Todd Faulkner

2005-03-16 by Greg James

This is just an update to the list.

As of this point in time, Todd has failed to contact ANYONE who paid
for a Neural Agonizer. We are all in contact with one another, so we
can verify this positively. His messages to this board last January
implying anything different were pure bunkum.

Caveat Emptor!

Pardon the humor, but it sounds like you got plenty of "Neural Agony" from this guy already!

Time to pay him a personal visit and contact his local police department. Add up all the unshipped orders and you probably have grounds for felony fraud.

There is always small claims court too. It would be easy to get a judgement. This would follow him around for years.
