News about MOTM-650 delivery
2005-03-12 by Paul Schreiber
I was informed today that my #1 sheet metal supplier is moving to new facilities. This means a 3 to 4 *week* shutdown, from around March 20 to April 15 (grrrr....tax day in the USA!). a) as far as existing orders go for kits, this should not have much impact. I have 1 outstanding order for panels and some rack rails, they will arrive before the move. b) Paul H has plenty of kits in stock, sitting on the shelf that already have panels. c) I have enough panels to cover assembled shipments until they are back on-line. So, what *does* this affect? Well, the MOTM-650 :( I finished the AutoCAD drawing for the front panel yesterday, and usually I have 2 unpainted prototypes made so I can get all the alignment issues with the pcbs figured out before I go off and spend $2000 on production panels. But, there is only a 50-50 chance I will get it made. If I can't get a commitment out of them by Wed., I have to see if sheet metal shop #2 will make it, which pisses off sheet metal shop #1 because then they lose the production order AND then I have to pay more in shipping because #1 is local and #2 is WA state. Yes, modular synth design can be *so exciting*. In the meantime, I will have the production MOTM-650 boards made up because those I can test without a front panel. But sadly now the MOTM-650 is looking May-June for shipment. Sigh. Paul S.
