Panel Dial Indicators

1999-11-04 by Tkacs, Ken

On the MOTM panels, is there a reason why some dial markings (such as those
on the VCA) have only the "fatter" radial lines, not the finer in-between
markings, than those on, say, the VCO or EG? Does this symbolize a
less-finicky setting, or are we just witnessing a work-in-progress
situation...?

The older, original panels were all screened manually. The newer ones
are on an automated machine, this has 4X finer resolution and hence
allows for the in-between ticks.

As the older panels run out, I will re-edit the dials for newer ticks. The
older
panels are then "vintage" and their value doubles.

Cool. I can see a new generation of synthesists scrutinizing photos of MOTM
systems, saying, "Wow, look-this is a Rev 1 module!" the way people now talk
about "blue meanies," etc.
