MOTM 480 on Studio Electronics Omega 8

2004-12-28 by Luca Pilla

Hello!
I just received today my new voice board for my Omega 8, with CS-80
filter. It's a complete MOTM 480, with beautiful Synthesis Technology
words on it, and some modifications to sit it on Omega voice card.
I guess Paul has found a new business area in boutique synths :-))

Great work!
Luca

Huh? Paul is selling MOTM through "other" channels? Guess I missed
something. In any case, you gotta let us know how it sounds!

I guess Paul has made an agreement with Studio Electronics to make a
mod version of 480. The PCB and components are the same on the
original 480, but of course there are modifications on power line,
taken by Omega 8 connectors, audio lines and control on LP/HP cutoff
and frequency. This is a big step, imho, in analog polysynth synth
design because for the first time you can add 8 high quality filters
like 480 in one expander synth. Crossover between modular and
polysynth! Paul and Studio Electronics has made a great work, and
I'm very happy to own Omega 8 with a MOTM filter, with a complete
MOTM modular synth,
Luca

EIGHT 480s? Amazing. Please do post some sound clips to the files
section.

And to think that I only have *2* on order! ;)

Wow--this is news to me..I didn't even know there was a SynthTech/SE
thing going on with my '480 design. Take a picture of it!

Yep, more info can be found here:

It will only cost you $1600 to add 8 SE/480s to your Omega 8!
