That's hot <tm paris>...
The idea of a B&W MOTM would take some getting used to.

All black would be nicer. I wonder if any of the quad modules will be adapted? John Loffink The Microtonal Synthesis Web Site http://www.microtonal-synthesis.com The Wavemakers Synthesizer Web Site http://www.wavemakers-synth.com

I inquired and got an email with loads of JPEG files attached. Here's the scoop from Bruce at Modcan: <quote> I just posted the photo last night and haven't had time to put up all the relative info. What I am doing is offering a B series of my modules with 1/4' jacks and in the same panel size that MOTM uses. I have attached a few more photos. So far I only have 20 modules converted to the new format with the other 25+ to come in the new year. I have attached a jpeg that shows the modules available so far. I am taking orders for the new B series and am currently building 2 large systems for customers in Europe. Best Bruce </quote> This indicates that the MOTM panel format is catching on. Blacet has started to offer a module in MOTM format, too. Methinks this is a good thing. -Richard Brewster

>This indicates that the MOTM panel format is catching on. >Methinks this is a good thing. I would agree. There are a number of more "utilitarian" modules such as the quad panner and joystick that I would like to have, but probably aren't worth Paul's time. In my opinion I like the direction Paul has been heading, with unique filters and modifiers that nobody else seems to make. Ivan

I have to second Ivan's comment. As a (soon to be) new MOTM builder, I chose the system because of the innovations in module design that Paul is engaging in now. The joystick and effects modules from Modcan have always looked interesting in that nice-to-have kind of way, But according to their website, the Modcan modules are only powered from a Modcan chassis and according to Modularsynth.com, only MOTM and Blacet modules are mutually compatible in their power delivery, though they use the same voltage. As a green builder, this might be a naive question, but is there a simple way to work around this with a mod and add the MTA connectors & cables? cheers, eric ivancu@... wrote: >This indicates that the MOTM panel format is catching on. >Methinks this is a good thing. > but is there a simple way to work around this with a mod and add the MTA connectors & cables? It does use an MTA .156 connector, it's just the 3 pin version. Easily adapted by just using different connectors on the ends of the power cable.

They are compatible power supplies. I've been running both my Modcan / Cyndustries A Series and my MOTM / Oakley modules off of the MOTM-900 power supply. For the 3-pin to 4-pin adaptation, you can use Cynthia Webster's Combo Distro card, or her ultra- simple Modcan-to-MOTM power cables. I've happily used both with no issues whatsoever. http://www.cyndustries.com Kevinski --- In motm@yahoogroups.com, eric f <ach_gott@y...> wrote: > But according to their website, the Modcan modules are only powered from a Modcan chassis and according to Modularsynth.com, only MOTM and Blacet modules are mutually compatible in their power delivery, though they use the same voltage. I think the design for the joystick is pretty much done. Larry H. did that. MOAJI. And I do know that Paul has been interested in doing a quad panner in the past. For effects modules, the de facto spring reverb for the MOTM is the Neural Agonizer. Paul has stated that he will probably never do a spring reverb. Stooge FPs available. I also still have a couple for FULL kits available as well if anyone is interested. For an MOTM analog delay, everyone pretty much uses the Blacet Time Machine. There is a Stooge FP available for the module as well. BBD in da hizzouse. For MOTM Frequency Shifter, Paul gave his blessing to Tony K's Encore Electronic Frequency Shifter. Any other effects you are looking for? I can provide links if you are interested. I will send out information on the Neural Agonizer Spring Reverb kits again on this week. MOTM, Oakley, Blacet, Tellun, Stooge Ind. (Larry only on this one), CGS, Cyndustries (w/adaptor), MAP (w/adaptor), Wiard (w/adaptor), Larry B.'s PV-1, and a couple of others all use the compatible with the MOTM standard as far as I know.
