I saved this email:

As a general answer:

the font is called "Alternate Gothic 2". This is the same as the Moog
modular.
Originally, a company called ChartPAK make rub-on lettering with this font.

I used to buy these, by the sheet, at local college bookstore. About 1 year
ago, I was at an "old fashioned" drafting supply store (pre-AutoCAD) and lo
and behold, there was a small rack of ChartPAK letter sheets.

Corel Draw looks like it ships with it:

   http://www.corel.com/support/technical/draw4/docs/4021.htm

   TT0542M_.TTF Alternate Gothic No.2 BT

Looks like it's downloadable from here:

   http://www.fontcafe.com/showcase/corel_draw8/a.html
   http://www.fontcafe.com/showcase/corel_draw8/altgot2n.ttf

Nutz! I only have Corel 7 (the boss wont spring for the new one).

It doesn't appear that you can actually download from those sites, can
you...? I don't see it in the "downloads" section.

Yeah... I see that now... I was mislead by the link on that page, but
pulling it down shows that it's not a real TTF file. Sorry.

Back to looking...

This site:

   http://www.math.utah.edu/~beebe/fonts/fonts-to-vendors-a.html

Indicates that there are MANY flavors of Alternate Gothic #2, and the
rights to the font come from different folks:

  Font Owned By

Alternate Gothic EF No. One Linotype-library

These guys:

Will sell it to you for UK 21...

And, these guys will let you press-it-on:

You can surf a bunch of links (about 50 from what I found) just by
searching on "Alternate Gothic" in AltaVista...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
