Formula Sound string filter

Formula Sound string filter

I tried to send this to the list before I uploaded photos but think I screwed up and
responded directly to Ken E... apologies if this is a duplicate...

Hi all,
Just stumbled across this in the archives... haven't been reading the list for quite a while...
Anyway, I have one of these. I always assumed it was the only one, considering the
faceplate claims it was "Custom Made for Patrick Gleeson". I didn't know they advertised, I
guess maybe there are others out there? Never seen or heard of one, but anything's
possible. Ken E., I think you may have been referring to my post on some list a few years
back.
Everyone's guesses were pretty much correct. The 24 sliders adjust the "Resonance Levels"
from zero (bottom) to 9, although it doesn't affect only resonance. At zero the frequency is
fully attenuated and with all sliders down the sound is completely filtered out. There is
also a 4 way "Resonance Shift" clickstop knob that can be set at zero, 4, 8, or 12%. This is
obviously not a squealer, but you can get some really cool harmonics at the higher
settings. The drive can get really distorted (really nice soft clipping sound) at the upper
settings and when you have some of the frequencies cranked at high resonances you can
get beautifully textured overdrive with selectable harmonics.
The 3 way switch under each frequency selects the output bus--- A, A+B, or B. Another 4
way knob allows you to select the mode--- Bypass, Direct, X-Fade, or X-pan.
The front panel has jacks for Modulation Out and VCA Control In.
My unit is having problems with the A output (really weak signal and 60 cycle hum,
although the amount of hum is reduced greatly at certain points on the drive level knob)
so the cool stereo features aren't really usable until I get it fixed. Anyone know someone
who could fix this thing?

that was being discussed last month. They take up 2 megs, let me know if they're taking
up too much room and I'll take them down...<<

I'm just catching up on mail now. Thanks for posting the pictures and giving the explaination. I've always had a fascination with the unit as it was on my potention to buy list like 20 years ago, but it was kind of pricey.

Even though they advertised, you still may have the only one. The tiny ad was only run once and I've never heard of the unit ever since.

As for the size of the pictures you posted, even though they say they're 500K+ in size, they only download between 18 to 22K and are somewhat small. I can't see anyway to download or view a larger size file than those 400 pixel wide images.
