Here's something I was looking at:
http://www.islandcases.com/amprackcases.html

Look at the '1/4" ATA Deep Small Case" at the bottom left. This does
have front and back lids. I talked to a guy there who said that they
could make the depth of the box itself shallower -- say 10" or 12" --
and reverse the latches so that the clasp part was on the lid and the
catch was on the box itself. Pull off the lid, and most of the clasp
hardware goes with it (the lid might end up being slightly deeper than
shown, if necessary to do this).

They'll do any number of spaces as that page suggests, and the price
for the customized box wasn't much different from what they list here
(ie, 11-space =$224 give or take a little).

Something to think about.

To put it politely I will say that I have one of their cases and I
would never buy one again. In most cases you get what you pay for.
Even at those prices I felt I didn't get what I paid for.
