One other thought. Somebody made the point a few days ago about MOTM not
being just another VCO/VCF/EG/VCA purveyor. This is one of those modules
that puts some spice into your system. It's kind of a "two trick pony". Use
it with the LFOs sweeping and swirling the sound around for the Jarre
effect. For this use, it's more akin to an effect like a phasor that you'd
apply to an overall sound, and even works with polyphonic patches. Or, turn
the LFOs off, and you have a poor man's formant filter. Tune the filters at
high resonance to get vowel like sounds. The reason I say "poor man's" is
because at some point I think Paul should design a purpose-built formant
filter, which would have independant voltage control to each filter. Then
you'll be able to sequence different vowel sounds!

Actually, a "proper" formant filter has such hig Q and needs to be tuned
+-2Hz, that VC control
is not what you need.

Rather, you need individual MUTE/UNMUTE inputs for each formant (simple
gating)

So, the formants are fixed? If that's the case, how many bands do you need
to duplicate all the vowel sounds a human can make? And how can you
synthesize the smooth transition from one formant to another that a human
would make if they say "A-E-I-O-U"?

I'll have to dig up all my poop from 15 years ago!

I think it's like 18 bands.
