Oakley State Variable FIlter

Oakley State Variable FIlter

2004-09-14 by chad_kettering

I am looking into building a MOTM system. Wondering if anyone has
experience with the Oakley State Variable Filter. Is it very good?
Does it really give that SEM filter sound? Should I just wait and
see what Paul comes up with?

I can't report from personal experience, but some folks seem to like
it. It depends if you want a state variable, or a state variable
specifically designed to sound like the SEM. Paul has a SEM state var
design that mimics the particular Oberheim characteristics closely.

I'd say buy the Oakley now, then buy the MOTM when it comes out. You
can't have too many filters!

It's a wonderful filter and it compliments all of the MOTM filters
nicely. It has an Oberheim-ish tone, but can also get very nasty
when you crank the resonance. Distorts warmly, too. Plus you get
all those OUTs...
