Hey -
On the Synth Tech site News page are a couple of demos of the GX-1.
One of them is "Can you guess the VCF".
Any guesses? :)
I'll give up the answer soon...

Do you mean the "485_guessvcf.mp3" demo? I was a little confused about this
demo since it seemed to have the same stereo phasing effect that the other 485
demos had. Is this a demo of the 485, as well as another filter? Sounds like
the 490 VCF in there to me...
Andrew
Yes, it seems that the 485 can do double-duty as frequency shifter/phaser. ;-)

Boy, I wish I had a 480!
OK, so the FS at the end of the patch chain may have made this a
little unfair. Mea culpa, but it does sound good, IMO :)
The actuals are:
1) 485 pair in LP - HP series configuration
2) 490
3) 420
4) 440
Mike, who misses the GX twins terribly

So is the FS what's creating the interesting stereo movement? I was curious
about that.

Yeah, it's own of my favorite tricks now. So much so that I
sometimes forget not to use it :)
A slow sweep between up and down with just a hint of feedback gives
that nice movement. Unfortunately, it cancels quite badly in mono :(
