Yikes!

Yikes!

2004-06-24 by Overand

So my MOTM-300 started wandering... a lot. I said 'crap, I assembled
something wrong.' Checked solder joints, parts, etc, and I discovered
that it was a 'mechanical' problem... IE when I whacked the module, it
would straighen out (or make worse) the problem.

To make a long story short, the problem seems to be a weak (and now
BROKEN) lead on one of the spectrol 149 100k pots. (Course on the 300)
Crap. I *think* there's an electronics shop relatively locally that
carries 'specialty' parts, so I'll check there at some point, but...

does anyone have a 'spare' pot I could use/buy? I'll probably gut one
from my as-of-yet unassembled 800 if it uses 100k 149s, will check later
tonight.

DAMN I feel special. Oh well, I had loads of fun before it got unstable
and the lead broke.

Check here: http://www.mouser.com/catalog/618/412.pdf
cermet 1/4 inch shaft 100K
If you need one with the extra long leads, I think that's special order.

Or - order another module from Paul and he might send you one for free
with the shipment. :) Do this before July 1 to avoid the price hike!

Cheers,
George
