PSIM-1 panel

As many of you know, we are temporarily on panel hold while I secure another painter. I have two promising leads. So, hopefully that will be resolved soon, and I can finalize prices and start moving forward with invoices. I understand some of you are ordering PSIM-1 modules from Brice without front panels in hope of a MOTM style Stooge front panel. Well, that is indeed our plan. So, we are open for suggestions on what you would like the panel to look like.. There are some mechanical issues which will determine many things. And a few other things to think about: 1. The PCB mounts from the DB-9. I plan to supply the panel with the DB-9 hole. The DB-9 is fixed at the one end of the PCB which is about 2.5" wide. So, this connector and corresponding PCB can be mounted left-right as it appears in the Frac rack version, or up and down. But, the connector is at one end, so it cannot be centered left-right. 2. I expect most people will want the DB-9 near the bottom. That will work OK except the depth of the PCB will interfere with mounting in the bottom row of many slant cabinets like mine and the dot com cabinets. But, it would fit fine anywhere else. 3. I figured LEDs are the top across like Miniwave, but... maybe not. They are fixed on a small PCB (2.5" x 0.5" with 0.3" between LED centers) so the order and the spacing is fixed. There is one screw between the 4 blue out and red and green pair. that affixes the LED board to the panel. 4. Is seems to me, there will be some space left over once on the panel. I see the LED board, 11 jacks, and one DB-9. That space could be used for some manual CV controls that are normalled to the CV inputs. That would allow for manual intervention on those CVs without external input. Now, Dave Bradley is the master of fit and form. I'm only the # 2 stooge. But, my first impression is that there is room for 2 MOTM style pot layouts. If you wanted to go with 4, I think UEG style and size controls would be necessary. So, send us your ideas.
