MOTM modules with Minimoog Voyager / Alesis Andromeda

MOTM modules with Minimoog Voyager / Alesis Andromeda

2004-02-05 by synthosphere

Hi friends,

New to this board and the world of DIY modular synths. The past
couple years I had purchased a Minimoog Voyager and Alesis Andromeda
before I knew anything about MOTM. Now that I have those synths I
thought that it would be neat to experiment with adding some MOTM
modules to the mix. Curious to know if any of you on this board are
owners of one or both of these two synths and if so have you used
them to control MOTM stuff? Any pro's or con's to that idea?

Thanks in advance for your input :)

...well I do know a few people have this arrangement, and if you have the VX-351 module for your Mini, it has CV/Gate jacks on it so you can directly trigger the MOTM modules and use the Mini as your controller. To use the Andromeda as a controller, you will need a MIDI to CV module such as Paul's MOTM-650 4 channel Midi module... soon to be released. I myself don't have the Mini or an Andromeda, but I will be triggering my MOTM from a variety of different sources via the 650 MIDI module. There are "other" 3rd party MIDI to CV modules available as some of the other folks here are using.

One of the first things you might want to consider, if you don't
already have it, is the Voyager CV Expander. This connects to the
Voyager and brings about 20 of the Voyager's internal signals out to
jacks. Then you can patch them into filters, other synthesizers or
back into the Voyager.

The Voyager has a lot of flexibility to let you work with it in a
modular manner. For example, if you have an external LFO, you could
patch it to the Voyager's volume, pan or filter.

Let us know how your system evolves!

Thanks! Yeah, I do have the CV Expander as well as the CP-251 control
processor. So, looks like I'm good to go as far as adding MOTM
modules to my Voyager setup. After getting the CV expander I've
gotten more interested in modular setups, hence my interested in MOTM
modules and this list.

I'm still in the process of getting my tools and once I feel like I
have what I need I'm going to start building some MOTM modules. I
think create a little website to document my explorations with this
stuff. Will keep you posted :)

Thanks again!
