Official MOTM bi-color LED part #, source?

Official MOTM bi-color LED part #, source?

2003-10-30 by Adam Schabtach

What's the part number of the MOTM bi-color LED/lens assembly (as seen on
the 320 LFO, for example) and where can I get them?

I just received some Lumex bicolor LEDs from Digi-key but they turn out to
be the wrong thing. I would just use them anyway, but I've already drilled
two Stooge panels and they're too small for the holes...

Thanks--

But don't you have to buy 100 of them. Price break at 300. Gulp.

Yeah, you're right. And even worse, they're a "non-stock" item. Sorry folks,
I glanced at the online parts-search results too quickly.

Hmm.

I suspect that someone (*cough* Stooges?) could offer a parts service
for MOTM kit. I suspect Paul would be to busy to do this sort of thing,
but it would be nice to be able to order small volume MOTM specialty
parts. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra to not have to order 300
of part xyz. Anyone up for it?

Even better, MOTM kit conversion packages. Everything you need to
convert a time machine, for example. That'd be worth +15% to me easy.
Would anyone else use a service like this?

This Stooge is really over-committed right now. While this sounds like a
decent idea. It woudl be a LOT of work. I suspect whoever wants pick it up
and run woud need more than 15% to make it worth while.

However, having said that, it is nice that occassionally, someone does pick
up the ball for specific parts like this. I have some of th bi-colored LEDs
for my own use because of a group buy somone on the list did. I have done
the same thing for rotary switches and pointer style knobs. Somone else did
the pointer style knobs too before me.

So, instead of trying to put together a "parts you need kit" for XX number
of different possibilities, I think the best approach is to buy a particular
part to share with others. It has to be either a part with a minimum
entrance quantity (liek the LEDs) or one with siuch a significant price
per-unit (maybe nice 100K pots) as to overcome the cost of double shipping
charges.
