cable order information

2003-09-22 by J. Larry Hendry

It has been pretty quiet here lately. I myself have been trying to get
caught up on some of my own synth building. :)

I will be ordering Official Synth Tech Logo cables again from Rapco (and CBI
if needed). Many of you have asked about them. You may get this note twice
as it is going out to the MOTM list and all that have inquired privately
(BCC).

I have a short trip planned later this week. I will be traveling to Calgary
Canada to meet Scott Juskiw and see the infamous Darmok synth. So, I will
not be able to start the order process until Tuesday, September 30. But,
you can start getting ready. :)

The cable options and prices will be the same as last time. If the order
gets to 1000 pieces again there will be a 25 cents per-cable instant rebate
applied to your invoice. At the request of a very good customer, I am
planning to buy some 3.5 mm cables. They will be available in black only
and will be a smaller diameter cable. I am planning to have them available
with 1/4 on one end and 3.5 mm on the other end, or 3.5mm on both ends. I
have inquired about the price and heat shrink options. I have asked for
connector and cable information and samples. So, I hope to have that
information up and posted very soon.

For those that have not ordered before, the preferred order method is to
download and fill in the spreadsheet from my website. However, for those of
you not MS Excel equipped, a text message is fine. Please save the excel
sheet in the same older format. I have not updated that at home and cannot
open the 2000 versions. I'm still running the 97 version stuff.

Thanks,

Is it possible to get these cables longer than 6'? I can think
several uses for longer cables...patching in other devices, for
example.

Would this push the limits of the specs of these cables? If not,
would people be interested in a couple of longer lengths, such as 12'
& 18'?

It shouldn't be a problem. On my last order I got two 36 foot cables. I cut them in half and put a TT connector on the cut end. Now I have four 18' cables that plug right into my patchbay.
