Other module ideas

Might seem like a lame idea to some, but what about an "indicator" module?
One that simply just does passthrough but allows one to monitor various
types of signals? Gating, audio levels, etc... I know Paul tends to be
against LEDs due to their induction of noise, but damnit it's tough for a
modular newbie like myself to not have some sort of visual indication of
what's going on!

Perhaps you could modify an MOTM multi-jack panel to include BNC
connectors for an oscilloscope. Good 'scopes can be had for $150 or
so (check out a ham radio swapmeet in your area for some *real* deals)
and will generally let you view two signals at once. This is a great
visual aid for learning, troubleshooting, etc.

When guests want to see the beast in the studio, it makes it easier to
explain what's happening. That keeps them from being totally
overwhelmed by the (their perceived) complexity of the system.

Just get a BNC to banana connector and use the banana jacks on the MOTM patch
panel.

Exactly! Or use my method if you don't use banana jacks very often, then connect BNC-to-dual banana jacks. So much connectivity to be had-so many thinks to think! Modular synths are just fun in so many ways!!!

Chub-well connected, yet still denied. Odd...

Locally, I found a BNC to female RCA adapter. It plugs right into the the
scope's channel input. I then use a cable with an RCA on one end, and 1/4" on
the other to patch into the modular. The adapter was only two or three dollars.

There's the spirit! Adapters are perfect, letting you use the most
often required cable connector and still allowing for everything else
in your lab to have a place in your system. Your DMM uses banana
jacks, your oscilloscope needs BNC, your Blacet and PAiA gear want
1/8" jacks and if you have adapters, you have connections to all.

Plug in, tune in, and ignore the yard.
