Stooge bracket mounting question

Stooge bracket mounting question

2003-08-16 by Inform3r

I'm finishing up a diy module and I plan to mount the pcb on a stooge
bracket. The only problem is that this module doesnt have any pots. How
should I attach the bracket to the front panel? Would a single jack be
strong enough to hold the bracket?

        Thanks,
        John

hello there,

i'd use one or more countersunk bolts to secure the bracket
if you're worried about the visual effect of the countersink
use a good black marker to paint over the blemishes
the Edding Aerospace Marker 8404 is perfect
(approved by british aerospace no less...)

as an aside - when i'm drilling stooge panels for 5mm LEDs (such as the on
the miniwave)
i always colour in the edge of the holes prior to fitting the LED

RE: [motm] Stooge bracket mounting question

2003-08-16 by John Loffink

There was some talk a few months back about stooge brackets for jack
heavy panels, but I don't think a consensus was ever reached on how to
accomplish this. It seems like everyone has their own idea about it.
Larry's existing brackets may not work because the knob cutout weakens
the area too much to add jack cutouts as well. I believe most people
end up making their own brackets out of sheet metal from the hardware
store.

Last I heard from Larry, he does have definite plans to come up with
a jack mounted bracket, it's just at the bottom of his list after the
current panel run and then cabinets.

Hi,
I had the same problem with mouting some of the CGS
modules. I wound up going to Home Depot and getting some L
shaped aluminum, it was about six feet long and cost around
twenty bucks. I posted some of the pics on my site. Take a look
and hopefully it will give you some ideas.
