Good news on the MOTM-650 MIDI-CV

2003-07-22 by Paul Schreiber

As some of you know, the MOTM-650 MIDI-CV converter has been delayed a *long time* because of the
original uP we selected had bugs, and the "fix" of the chip didn't help us any. The design was
then split into 2 uPs, which was a royal pain because of keeping track of 2 code sets, hacking up
prototypes, etc.

Well, as they say, the third time's the charm :)

New samples of the "we fixed the fixed part" seem to be working as predicted by the data sheet.
The new 'flavor' adds more internal RAM, more code space and a separate baud-rate timer (for MIDI
I/O) that frees up 1 internal timer (for portamento).

So.....after months of 'mothballing', the project is back on track. No firm delivery date, but
I'll keep you posted. Hopefully, the last fixed bit (SPI port for communicating to the DACs) is
fixed and we can get this thing out the door.

Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

I have been waiting for this one. I do not have a quality midi/CV
converter so I do need one for sure.

Good news Paul!!!!!!

At the risk of being told "not to rock the boat" by a particular list member
(again) for publicly discussing the "point system", no they won't. :-) IIRC, the
best point deal you are going to get under the new price structure, is two
assembled 490's for 20 points - still a heck of a deal, IMHO.

Disclaimer: I am not trying to stir things up about the "point system", I'm just
making an observation. MOTM is good, free MOTM is even better and you
probably can't have too many 490's. No warrany is expressed or implied by
this message, and the author is in no way responsible for any damages
caused this message. YMMV.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
