IC pin straightener.

"What! I don't need this, I'm careful and don't bend my pins!"

Well, you need to bend them to get them into the PCB or socket, and they
normally come splayed out.

This little gizmo works like a charm; wish I'd had it 500 modules ago!

Jameco (.com) PN 99362CP, $7.35. Conductive plastic, of course.

Funny I use *exactly* the same tool from Jameco
and swear by it!

($%3!* there, I sweared)... LOL!

Jameco (.com) PN 99362CP, $7.35

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED "piece of kit" as they say.

I keep my IC Pin Straightening Tool grounded to it's screw lug
by a long green wire attached to a big metal rack.
Using it along with a wrist strap I find it easy to insert ICs into
the military type high-reliability sockets that I use exclusively,
everywhere, on everything period.

I should have it grounded directly to a water pipe,
(or ideally a 6-foot x 1-inch copper rod pounded down a minimum or 4-feet
into the Earth), but the big metal rack seems to have enough ground
potential on it's own...

The fun thing about the ground wire is I never loose it on the bench
it's easy, just grab the green wire and there it is,
instead of normally dangling just a few inches above the floor)
