Rack Rail Radius
1999-10-21 by Tkacs, Ken
Not at all-I'm not casting any blame! I was going to order them from TA anyway (and right after I did, I got a Sweetwater catalog that vaguely suggested they have good deals on rails, by the way). I haven't unwrapped my rails yet to do an accurate measurement. Maybe it will be only \ufffd" which is still a large gap to my mind. But it sure looks like a huge radius on these things. Looks to my eye like a 0.75" radius. When I went to look at my normal 19" racks, I see they have similar large bends, though, so maybe it's not feasible to hold out for a rack rail set with a tight 0.125" bend. Maybe I'll just have to deal with it

-----Original Message----- Since I mentioned getting my 21U rails from Tech Am previously I feel a little guilty about what you said regarding the 1" gap. This isn't what I found though upon inspection. I set both the rails next to each other as if I had bolted them together. Then I lined up spare MOTM panels on adjacent sides of each rail. I then measured the distance between the two edges of the panels which I believe to be about 1/4". Were the rails you got the Penn Fab rails? Did you measure the distance between the modules? I don't see the radius as being very large at all so I hope you didn't get different rails. Sorry if I led you astray! JB
