RE: Tony's frequency shifter - WAS: Re: [motm] Bode freq on eBay

One big knob on a frequency shifter is great for fine tuning and wide sweep ranges, all from one knob. Remember, this is a _real_ modular, so real time tweaking is a given. You cannot make a smooth and slow wide ranging sweep with small coarse and fine knobs - where do you go when the fine knob reaches its limit? You can use the CV input I guess, but this is one of the most natural uses of a frequency shifter, so why not make it native to the module? If there will be coarse and fine tune knobs, then I say make the fine tune one the "large" knob, but give it a wider range than a normal fine tune. Plus or minus one octave would be good. Newark has an MOTM style knob that is 1.80" in diameter, by Multicomp, part number 92N4111 (Newark) and MCCFX1S. If that's too much they also have a 1.30" knob available.
