Mod suggestions

Mod suggestions

1999-02-05 by Dave Bradley

I've been contemplating a couple of mods, and wondered if anyone else has
already thought of these, or maybe has actually done them already.

How about a gate lamp on the EG? The main problem seems to be that real
estate is so tight. Has anyone found a place to put one? Maybe on the VC
delayed EG module (when it comes out), there will be room for both a gate
lamp and a manual gate pushbutton.

On the sample and hold, there is space for an extra jack. I'd like to add an
input that allows you to gate track mode on and off. A slightly more
versatile use would be for a gate signal to reverse whatever mode the
track/hold switch has set. Again, a manual sample pushbutton would be good
for when you want to disconnect the clock or to introduce rhythmic variance.

These are great ideas. I'll allow everyone else to voice their thoughts
first.

I will have to go back next week and see the best way to do this, BUT I
encourge everyone to
take a crack at it (no fun with me going first!!)

Hello everyone!

My name is John Barlow, and Synthesis Technology was actually one of the main
reasons I finally bought a "new(er)" computer and got online, after I was
referred to the website by Onchip while trying to find out what was going on
with the Curtis chips. Within two weeks of subscribing to the DIY list, Paul
was asking for input (which I was more than willing to give!) on what has by
now become MOTM. I'm really impressed by how it has progressed and what looks
to be a bright future for MOTM, Paul, and us analog geeks.

I'd like to encourage more input to this list as to the MOAS (a la Thomas's
post a few days ago), I will post some of my ideas tomorrow, I hope others
will share there ideas as well.

In the meantime, I'd like to suggest that LEDs added to CV generators and
processors, be at the output and not on the input side. Not that it isn't
useful to be ensured that a gate signal is present at you input. At the
output, however, it enables one to see what a CV is doing, and it is much more
pleasant to watch a slowly changing LED rather than a blinking gate driven
one. Oh yeah, I like the idea of a manual button as well!
