New modules/power supplies

This is a general email answer, but was spurred by a few private questions. a) The only "new" modules to be shipped before NAMM are the MOTM-190 Dual VCA/RM and the MOTM-890 uMixer. These are +-15V. b) In 500/600 series, the only announced module that uses +-15V only (as in the current modules) is the WaveWarper. There is a 50/50 chance the Cloud Generator may be that way as well. About a 30% chance for the Munging Decimator. 0% for the others :) c) The others use a 6-pin, MTA-156 power connector/cable. So, there will be NEW cables, a NEW version of the MOTM-960 connector board, and a NEW power supply. I sound like Micro$oft. d) the NEW power supply is the MOTM-950. It is the exact same size and same *wattage* as the MOTM-900. The difference is, the MOTM-950 was 1/2 of the *wattage* for the +-15V side. The other 1/2 is for the +5V supply. e) the new modules actually draw LESS current (and hence, less *wattage*) off of the +-15V side. This is because most of the circuitry uses the +5V *wattage*. f) just GUESSING at this point: the new supply can power about 6 500/600 modules AND 10 OTHER older modules. BUT....of course the on-module connector board doesn't have that many connectors on it (won't fit). I'll know the exact number this weekend: it's time to get those pcb boards done :) g) If your MOTM system is in a 'rack', you should order a MOTM-950. If your system is in a 'cabinet': order the new connector board, and get a Power One model HCN5-9/OVP (about $75) and wire that sucker up. If you are planning a NEW cabinet, order a Power One model CP131-A (about $125) which has all 3 supplies in 1 chassis (this is what I will have at NAMM). BTW: the MOTM-600 uSeq prototype, at 1:27AM took it's fist baby steps :) Paul S.
