good news

2002-11-02 by J. Larry Hendry

I dropped of 1/2 the flat rails and 1/2 the SKB backs at the powdercoat
place today. The good news is that instead of the normal 3 week wait, I was
told he would have these done next week.

So, SKB backs and some of the rails will be shipping next week. Flat rails
guys expect invoices this weekend.

Why only 1/2 the SKB backs? Because the metal shop missed the spec by
30/1000 inch width on 1/2 of them. That doesn't sound like a lot on such a
low tech item. But, it was more than enough to keep the tops from fitting.
Sigh.... So, I am waiting for that 1/2 to be re-done. The good news is
that all the tops are OK and I have plenty of 10U backs in the "good" half
to fill all the orders. The bad news is that ALL of the 5U tall backs were
wrong. I was promised they would have those replacements made right away.
We'll see what "right away" means.

Why only 1/2 the flat rails. Because Aaron's backordered 2500 of my screws
that I use to keep the powdercoat off the threads. I was told the
backordered screws would be shipped today. So next week, the remaining 1/2
(of hopefully everything) goes in to powdercoat. Given the unusually speedy
response I am getting from the powdercoat place, looks like all flat rails
and SKB backs should be at their destinations before Turkey-day.

Panels are at the printers (finally!), and I'm hoping to hear back
this evening or tomorrow when he expects to have them done.
