Hi, Could anyone help me out in finding a really good and warm bell- sounding ringmodulator patch? I tried a variety of patches, but can't seem to get the sound I would like to hear. Setup: 2xMOTM-300, 1x310, 2x320, 1x440, 1x490, 1x110, 3x800, 1x101, 1x820, 2x910 and 1xUEG. Thanks! Michel

Ask Ken Elhardt. He used similar module complement with great success on his piece on the MOTM News page (look there at the top). Paul S. ----- Original Message -----

Michel-- FM bells have always been a favorite. Is this what you really looking for? FM can have bell-like characteristics, but it is difficult to consistently get it to sound like a bell by itself IMO. These might also help out: http://www.ec.vanderbilt.edu/computermusic/musc216site/Simple.bell.tutorial.html Ignore that virtual stuff--http://www.clavia.se/nordmodular/Modularzone/FMsynthesis.html http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/apr00/articles/synthsecrets.htm http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/may00/articles/synth.htm Especially check out Synth Secrets in the August and September 2002 issues of Sound-on-Sound. You will have your best luck here. Even if this is not what you are in search of, these all make good reading. Happy Tweaking! Use sine waves, or you will have harmonic mush. Try oscillating 440 and 490 as your input sources. Robert Rich uses oscillating filters a lot as RM input sources. My favorite patch for a bell sound: Ring modulator with sine wave VCO on one input and Wurlitzer EP200 on the other input.
