is is normal that the s&h, when sampling an external kb like my jp6, produces highly audible clicks on every sample? is it possible to vary the frequency of the vibrato? it seems to be fixed, and the external clock doesn't seem to CV it. regards from providence mark

1) What is it that you are sampling? Also, be sure the switch is in HOLD, not TRACK (be sure the switch is wired correctly. The output of a S&H is *always* a CV, not audio. The input can be audio, but *not* the output. 2) No, it is fixed at 7Hz. paul, i am still hearing a click that varies in amplitude on most or all of the samples. MOTM-100 is set to HOLD, speed & level are at 10. my audio signal path is: jp6 arpegg. in --> +15v preamp (set at 3:00) -->Y-split--> motm-100 IN & motm-110 VCA IN --> VCA out to mixer my CV path is: motm 100 OUT --> motm 110 CV with CV mod pot at 10 and GAIN pot in the BIAS region the clicks aren't loud, sort of like footsteps running along with the signal. i have verified that the switch is wired correctly. any further help is appreciated. mark

I don't understand your signal path. "jp6 arpegg in" is an output? Is it putting out audio or CV signals? Dave Bradley Principal Software Engineer Engineering Animation, Inc. daveb@...

The clicks are because you are trying to run about 100Hz sampled DC as a control voltage to a VCA. You cannot do this. A S&H is used *mainly* for controlling a VCO. Try this patch: S&H Out >> 1V/Oct in on a VCO (or on a VCF) This will randomly move the VCO/VCF's center frequency to a different point with each samle pulse. The 'classic' S&H patch is to feed a saw or triangle into the S&H and use the output into a VCO. This will make arpeggiated "runs" and you can vary the 'tune' it plays by ever-so-slightly changing the input frequency. Low frequency input waves (<20Hz) are best for this. If you want to use the S&H output into a VCA control input, you will have to place a slew limiter on the S&H output first (a VC limiter is in design now). Otherwise, the vca "pops" which is what you are hearing.
