diy panels

hello all, just to clarify as a couple of asked: these panels ARE motm sized, in 1U & 2U, with the four panel mounting holes in correct positions they are NOT painted, they are raw aluminium stock, they may have some form of protective coating (i'll have to check) but essentially they're 'silver' the panels are guillotined, drilled, then the edges are finished you have to design, mark out and drill your own controls / jacks / leds, there are excellent instructions on dave's www.hotrodmotm.com site the idea is you can paint them yourself, or do what i do which is to burnish them with a wire brush attached to a drill, legend with dry transfer lettering, then apply three coats of automotive lacquer, or you can just use an aircraft marker as a quick cheap solution i'm not going into competition with synth tech, or indeed stooge industries, i'm mainly doing this for my own diy projects, at less cost than a schaeffer panel, and more cost effective than getting cheap blanks from the states, and less hassle than wielding that nasty jigsaw cutter (also with sheffield being an industrial town, there's a matter of pride involved) cheers paul b sheffield uk etc...
