[motm] MOTM strange curiosities

Even though there is no advantage sound-wise, I was just wondering
technically why only the oscillator pulse and triangle waves can be used to
hardsync another oscillator to. The sawtooth and sine don't work for that
purpose. How does the sync input know the difference?

I also found it amusing that I can run audio through the MOTM filters or VCA,
not by going through an audio input, but by going through an FM input. I
haven't bothered to look at the schematics, but I doubt that the audio is
actually passing through. Perhaps it's causing the filters or amp to become
a sound source itself. Is that what's happening?

The VCO wants a nice "edge" into the SYNC input. This is because the input
is AC coupled. That is why SYNC out is a very narrow pulse.

In the filters, you can "ring" it by messing with FREQ and RES. The VCA is
probably leakage.

I was thinking it might be something like that, but I would think the
sawtooth would then work better than a triangle. However, thinking about the
direction of the sawtooth on an o-scope, it must be the falling edge that
matters.

Actually the freq and res knobs don't have much to do with it. They pretty
much work as expected. The audio comes out a little weak and lethargic
though, but it still works.
