Can anyone tell me the part number for a MOTM-compatible power
connector to go from modules to the power supply?

Thanks.

They are MTA-156 connectors. You can get these at mouser.com.

part #571-640-4264 MTA-156 4-position connector
part #571-640-5514 MTA-156 connector cover

Cheers,
George

See http://www.hotrodmotm.com/parts_list.htm for all things hardware
related.

Parts questions

2006-06-07 by Andre Majorel

Paul,

1. The following resistors are listed as "3W tempco" :
- MOTM-320 R8
- MOTM-480 R9
- MOTM-480 R17

What do kit buyers get ? +3000 PPM ? +3500 PPM ?
Would a 900 mW part do ?

2. The following caps are described as "1nF yellow box" :
- MOTM-440 C16
- MOTM-480 C3
- MOTM-480 C6

What dielectric is that ?
What voltage ?

Thanks.

3W is more about the physical size of the part. The wattage is not important.

50V, polyester.

motm650 question

2006-06-08 by Dino Leone

just got my 650 and I'm totally happy!
What a great piece of hardware!!! It's doing a very
fine job. Damn, I just ran out of envelope generators
(among other things)....

here's a question: when looking at the five jack
boards, there's brownish components on them (4 each).
At first I thought these are just jumpers but then I
noticed they actually look like ceramic caps with very
fat legs - and three of them too (legs that is)....
sooo: what are those?

BTW, Paul you did a very fine job with this module!
The way the boards are mounted and the overall quality
is just superb!!
Anybody out there who hasn't ordered one yet? I can
only recommend you get one!

With Best Wishes,

Dino

Murata 3-terminal notch filters. These are to filter the CPU clock noise off the
ribbon cable, in order to pass CE and FCC regulations. And I use them as jumpers
:)

There are also 2ea TDK SMT notch filters on the main CPU board: one for the 8052
+5V, another one for the LEDs.

Very cool!
I want to replace the ribbon cable with a longer one
so that I can feed all the signals (CV, gates etc)
directly into my multi-"Stooge Larry (TM)"-bus (behind
the frontpanels). I'd simply add one more AMP
connector to a cable with is a few inches longer than
the current one and then make a little adaptor board
which then feeds the signals into the multi-bus. The
question is should I add such EMI filters there too?
If so, what's the frequency of the CPU? (I found the
datasheet that shows the correlation between
capacitance and insertion loss).

Many thanks in advance

Dino

If you do not use the 4 jack boards, then yes, you MUST add these filters. The
CPU runs at 18MHz.
