FW: [motm] MOTM Cabinet -- Fingerjoints

-----Original Message----- You mention that the finger joints are easy to make and that they are very strong. For the woodworking newbie that I am, how do you cut the fingers? Either side of the finger is not a problem, but how do you get to the back side to cut it out? Also, are the fingers and glue the only thing holding the main frame of the cabinet together? You could be lazy like me and buy a jig. First I got, for about $8 from Sears, the plans and hardware to make a box joint jig for the table saw, but eventually I just broke down and got their deluxe dovetailing jig, on sale for about $100. I'll let you know how it works when I get around to building something with it...several things on the drawing board. With this, you use a router to quickly make various box & dovetail joints.
