and i should also add i use MOTU's digital performer 3.1 on the mac with
the 24i and it handles everything very smoothly, has some nice built in
effects and is great for MIDI too. -nate

I think that you must mean Digital Performer 3.01? AFAIK 3.1 isn't out yet,
even though it was announced at NAMM. (I use DP3 also.)

I think that 3.1 became available about two weeks ago. It supports Mac
OS-X (10.1 is recommended) and has support for dual processors in the
new G4 Macs.

Wrong twice, I'm afraid ; )

DP 3.1 is not available yet (should be any day now, though), and when it is
out it will NOT support OS X. You are right, however, in that it does
support dual processors. No word from MOTU as to when OS X will be
supported, but I doubt it will be within 6 months. Probably not until '03.

Thanks for the info, Simon. I guess I'll have to go wring the neck of
the sales dude at the local pro audio store that gave me this info! <big
grin>

Just like anything, it pays to check it out yourself.

Yeah, I was going to say that I'd be really surprised if 3.1 came out about
two weeks ago, since I'm a MAS developer and I haven't heard much about 3.1
since I spoke to the MOTU guys at NAMM in January. :-)

One correction to your correction: version 3.01, which has been out for
awhile, already supports dual processors. There's a big ad/article about it
at Apple's site: http://www.apple.com/creative/musicaudio/motu/

(What does this have to do with MOTM? Well, I plan to record my MOTM synth
with my MOTU software...)
