OT: Robert Rich concert in Philly
2002-03-27 by T.J.
Hi All, Robert Rich gave the Philly audience a really great performance this past Saturday night. Robert started the show with a very interesting all MOTM intro. He did two sets about an hour each. And the house was full, pretty much a sold out show. Robert played some amazing synth, along with some intense soloing on his different flutes, synthesizers, and steel guitar. It was fun to watch Robert perform, as he was very busy with tweaking the modular and soloing over top. Of course I went to hear Robert play his MOTM and other synths, but was most impressed with the solos he did on his steel guitar. What an awesome sound Robert got out of that steel slide. He had some nice FX processing the sound, but man could he play that instrument with some feeling. Very inspiring. After the show I was able to get a close look at the 20-some module MOTM beast. It had a few Stooge panels I noticed, and had more filters than I have ever seen in one synth. Very cool! (All of the synth geeks were checking this out.) I was also able to meet Robert briefly and say hello. Although it was a semi mob scene of fans getting autographs and asking questions. Robert is a super nice guy and did a great job at the Gathering in Philly. A most enjoyable night. Thanks Robert! So, was I the only MOTM list member there? Terry (The Casio Kid)
