An introduction, and a small offer

An introduction, and a small offer

2002-03-14 by Adam Schabtach

Hello--

I've been lurking on this list for a little while, and thought perhaps I
should decloak and introduce myself. Hi! my name's Adam, I write music
software for a living, and I recently ordered my first batch of MOTM module
kits. I've wanted a modular synthesizer for about 20 years(!), despite--or
maybe because of--having a good-sized pile of those 'D'-word synthesizers.
(No, not Doepfer--the other 'D'-word. You know, those analog wannabes.)
After having the good fortune of meeting Paul, Tony Karavidas, and Robert
Rich at the recent NAMM show, and spending some time inspecting the hardware
and listening to the sounds, I decided that the time had finally arrived to
buy one. (Never mind that I still don't know where I'm going to find room to
put it...)

I would like to thank the folks who contribute to this list and who provide
websites with information about building and modifying MOTM modules. The
information I've found in the archives of this mailing list and on your
websites has been very helpful. I intend to use my website to chronicle my
adventures while constructing my synthesizer, hoping that perhaps my own
observations will in turn be helpful to someone else.

Here's my small offer: I've converted Ken Elhardt's module drawings into
Macintosh PICT format. If there are any other Mac users on this mailing list
who are interested in these drawings, with Ken's permission I'll post them
on my website, or mail them back to him, or give them to Paul to post, or
whatever. Obviously Mac users can also use the JPEG versions, but the PICT
versions have the advantage of being vector drawings which can be scaled,
edited, etc.

Adam, Seems as if the list has been somewhat quiet lately. Anyhow, thanks
for decloaking and welcome to the list and the wonderful world of MOTM.
Please be sure to keep us uptodate on your website so we can link it from
our MOTM related sites.

BTW, I am quite pleased to add a link from my site to any MOTMer's synth
site, if they pass along the link. :)

You have my permission to post them anywhere you want.

Thanks. I've put them on my website, which is here:
http://www.studionebula.com
(Did I forget to include that URL in my previous posting?)
They're in the Files section. An ongoing account of my adventures with MOTM
modules can be found in the Synth section. Not much to see there yet,
though.
