Pure candy! I love the pops of the filter's changing Fc over top of it.
The 410 sweetens every mix, doesn't it?

Yes, exactly! A starting point! I think maybe it would be even
better if we added audio samples, but again, there probably isn't
enough space here (hint Crow?!?).

For more information on the SpeakJet chip and to download the latest
manual... see:
http://www.synthmodules.com/speakjet.htm

It does *much* more than just speak (or babble). I've only begun working
with the internal 5 channel sound synthesizer code for the PSIM-1. More
details on this later. Keep watching the Web site.

That was enough to make me order one of these. Babble or whatever,
that thing is going to find a way into my system.

What else can you tell us about the set up of this chip for demo
purposes?

Re: New file uploaded to motm

2004-04-19 by Mike Marsh

Hey Chub -

Brice has a simple circuit to put the thing into demo mode with two
AA batteries. That's the setup I used to record the sample. He has
another circuit that's only slightly more complicated to interface
the chip to a computer via serial. I'm gonna build this one, too,
then start with Brice's software to control the chip directly.

It will also be interfaced to the PSIM for even more fun...

Check out Brice's site (www.synthmodules.com) for more info and the
user manual. It's only twenty five bucks!

Re: New file uploaded to motm

Did both and placed the order with Brice!

The demo circuit looks ridiculously simply. What control do you have
over that? Is there an input I missed or is the voltage varied? If
you got all of that from tying all those pins together, the
entertainment factor alone rationalizes the 25 bucks!

Re: New file uploaded to motm

Yup, just that simple circuit. Took me about 5 minutes with a
RatShack protoboard. No control, and the demo cycles so after a
while you really want to start tweaking. The other circuit is easy,
too, especially if you eliminate the amp and filter parts.

Mike, also assembling a dual band pass filter module

I'm there! Also, Brice shipped the chip this morning- thank you very

Re: New file uploaded to motm

2005-04-17 by Mike Marsh

WHEW - OK here goes, it's quite complex so I'll just be able to give you a flavor of it. I told
Paul that I used all of my Stooge cables on this one and had to resort to my old Hosas as
well.

Anyway, there are 8 voices that were recorded simultaneously (no overdubs). The melody
was generated by some code I wrote for the PSIM which also implements a 4 stage shift
register, so that's where the canon comes from. Very pretty.

I used the 730 to generate all the triggers, clocked by an LFO (320). The various divider
outs trigger 800s which control various VCAs and filters. I used every VCO in my system
and every filter except the 410.

One other trick: I took the STEP out of the 730 and fed that into the VC IN of the same: this
gave the tune a nice lilting quality.

There is a lot going on in this patch, but the bottom line is that this is a single patch of a
largish system driven by the 730. I can't tell you all enough how cool this module is. Get
in line, sign up, whatever you do, get yourself one.

Mike

PS - I'm glad you liked the music, George!

Re: [motm] New file uploaded to motm

Hello, I just uploaded a beta version of a Front Panel Express design for the Velleman VPS10 oscilloscope. I followed the advices of John Loffink and put a 6 way selector and multiples.
This design is missing the screw holes (I don't know where they have to be positioned) and the jacks / selector holes dimensions are not real. If someone experienced in FPE designs could finish it or make it better, it would be great.
Thanks!
Miguel Mendoza.

for the moment that's true, but there is apparently an OS X & Linux
port of the FPE editor under development.

there's no sign of a ship date, however, and my request to be a beta
tester went unacknowledged.

Not that I'm interested in this oscilloscope, but is there any way to
view fpd files with OS X?? From what I can tell, you need to run
Windows to use their software.
