Has anyone seen the new Newark price for MOTM style Alco knobs? It used to be $1.69 each, now they're $2.82 each. Ouch!!! Does anyone know of an alternate source for these? The usual sources (Mouser, Digi-key, Future-Active, Allied, Radio Shack.com) don't stock these. I know that Radio Shack has a similar knob, but it's slightly larger than the Alco knob. Yep, good old Tyco! Buy a company, jack up prices 20-40%. I used to pay 62 cents each. Now, in 10,000 (!) pieces they are like $1.20. Newark is about the only "catalog" place that has them. ----- Original Message -----

Actually, I recently got an exceptionally good deal on them. I got 100 for 99.00 about 2 or 3 months ago. I cannot remember now (thinking I would never need to buy them again). But, it was someone on the list that directed me to the deal. I'll try to hunt down my receipt. They were the exact same knobs I got from Newark in the same packaging. Larry H

Searched the MOTM archives for "Alco knobs" and found this vendor: http://www.dee-inc.com/netstore/catalog/specification.asp?ProductCode= PKES90B1/4 Qty Price 30 - 49 $1.725 50 - 99 $1.380 100 - 149 $1.150 150 - 249 $0.986 250 + $0.92 Looks like they went up a little - way cheaper than Newark, though. Thanks Barry. This is the place where I got mine. When mine arrived there were 4 boxes (thy come 25 to a box) but one box was not full. It was short 10. I called them and reported the error and they were prompt about sending out 10 more. Larry Hendry
