Would anyone care to suggest a "MOTM quality" stereo pot for a custom module? Should be sealed, conductive plastic, audio log, long life, etc. I'm having trouble finding these in small quantity for less than $35 ea (ALPS blue case). Sorry if this has been covered, I'm new. Thanks Grant

I have often wondered the same myself, and wondered about pots with switches. I found some that I was planning to order from Mouser to see if they might be worth having. They are on my next pending order to Mouser. On page 282 of the new catalog, there are pots under the brand name PIHER. They are solder lug instead of PCB mount. Most of the trimmers are carbon. But, at the bottom of the page, they show the PC16 series that are described as "sealed" and "plastic." There is no mention of "carbon" in the description. They are available as single gang, single gang with switch, and dual ganged as stock part numbers from 1K to 500K in value. Single prices just under $3 each. sine I have not tried them yet, I cannot report on their suitability. But, it sure looks better than open carbon. It appears from the illustrations that they have long shafts that might require cutting to length. The only thing that does not seem to meet your criteria is the taper, these are linear. But, if you get the big one you can simulate something close to a log taper (now where is that document?). I'm gonna order a handful just to play with. the description also says "up to 4 gangs and a switch on a common shaft by special order." I bet there are some significant quantity minimums for something like that. Anyone have any experience with these? Larry Hendry

Noble makes a nice one for $20.00. Available in 10k to 250k Log from
Michael Percy Audio Ordering Information . Page 14. ($25 minimum order).
I have used these with good success. The footprint is smaller than the
Alps so it will take up less space behind a modular panel. I have
wondered about those Piher pots from Mouser as well, let us know Larry.
Charles.
