Perhaps you should be looking at the rackmount Expressionist then:

(maybe Tony has a few left)

I respectfully disagree. I think the price/performance is just fine and this
would push the cost up more, not to mention maybe forcing Tony into rethinking
the circuit board layout. Midi interfaces are so inexpensive these days that
you should consider adding another to have a dedicated set of ports just for
your midi-cv.

Also, if it does get upgraded to 16 channels, what else would you be able to
put on a midi daisy chain?

My opinions are:

If Tony can shrink it to an 8-channel 2-unit interface, then add a midi thru so
we can daisy chain them.

I'd think a 4-unit interface would be fine if I could get 16 outputs. I'd be
willing to pay the $599 like the original Expressionist for this.

I meant that all 16 CV outputs would be on the same MIDI channel (4
for note pitch, 4 for gate, 4 for dynamics, 4 for various
controllers).

That's a great idea. How about a master 8-channel 2U module with
additional 8-channel 2U slave modules that can be daisy chained on?
Just tossing around ideas.

I have been thinking about a smaller version (sans display), but choosing
the right features is a trick.
