Interference

2001-12-01 by sucrosemusic@yahoo.com

This has probably already been discussed, but I'm concerned about RF
interference. I have a computer monitor in my studio, which is a
pretty evil thing when it comes to interference. It's got giant
electromagnets, puts out high frequency signals (and the everpresent
60hz hum, of course) and lots of other bad things. Most of my gear
exists in nice metal cases, mixers, even most of my keyboards have
metal cases. Will an exposed pile of circuit boards in an MOTM pick
up interference from my CRT, my other gear, my power, etc. This is
another reason I was interested in the covers for the back of the
unit, but I'm under the impression that the metal used might not
sheild that well. Also, this whole thing might be in my head, since
my Juno-106's analog chorus is probably the single noisiest thing
I'll ever have to deal with in my LIFE. It even beats out the hack-
job distortion box made from a headphone guitar amp.... not even a
line out. Truly ghetto... but it works, and sounds pretty decent,
actually, aside from the horrible hiss.

Anyway, sorry to constantly spam this board, but thanks for taking
your time to read my posts.

Save up for a NEC flat panel. I use the 15", 1024 x 768 model LCD1530V. Staggering video
quality, no EMI, about $320 bucks.

The MOTM should not pick up the EMI. The pcbs are on steel plates, and steel (high iron content)
is a great EMI sheild.
