midi to trigger (pro-kadi)

2001-10-24 by AntonFier@aol.com

hello:
i seem to recall a discussion a week or 2 back regarding midi to trigger
devices and there was talk of the kenton pro-kadi. i looked into one of these
and ended up not buying one because it seemed to me that one had to install
the d-sub like connector to whatever one wanted to trigger. now i know that
this makes sense if one is trying to trigger one unit (say a tr-808) but can
this unit be used to trigger say....several modules ? i was unable to figure
out how. i hope i'm wrong. thanks in advance.
regards,
anton

The D-Sub connector is merely an economical way of having a lot of channels
of triggers on one connector. You can make or buy a cable that has a D-Sub
on one end and then a fanout to 1/4" phone plugs (or any other connector) on
the other end to plug into whatever combination of gear you want. For
example, you could plug a few channels into a Simmons drum brain, and then
plug the rest of them into your MOTM.
