VCO glyphs

VCO glyphs

1999-02-26 by Christopher Jeris

Hey Paul,

While we're all drooling over that picture of the oscillators, could you
tell a synth novice whether he's got the controls parsed right?

Knob COARSE Knob FINE
Knob WIDTH Knob PWM
FM: Sw EXP/LIN Sw AC/DC Knob DEPTH
Sync: I/O Sw HARD/SOFT Knob FM2
J PWM J 1V/OCT J FM1 J FM2
J SINE J TRI J SAW J PULSE

If these are the right names, I guess I don't understand how the WIDTH,
PWM, DEPTH and FM2 knobs are to interact with each other.

thanks & peace,

Chris Jeris MIT Math!

It's now all on the website!

PWM=Pulse Width Modulation
DEPTH is the attenuator for the FM1 input

The VCO has 3 seperate control voltage inputs, all summed.
So, you can have pitch and 2 modulations all going + PWM.
And SYNC!

If that ain't flexibility, don't know what is?

(yea, yea, output mixer. You wanna pay $300 for the kit? didn't think so!)

Width = initial pulse width
PWM = amount of Pulse Width Modulation (from PWM Jack)
Depth = FM1 modulation amount (from FM1 jack, depends on settings of FM1
switches)
FM2 = FM2 modulation amount (from FM2 Jack)

This is my take on it. The MOTM page now has a spec sheet for the UVCO.

I think this module looks great. How many of the VCO are you guys planning to
put in your systems? I am planning on having (4) 20 U racks full of MOTM
modules when this beast is done. That is 16 rows of modules. Anyway, I am
thinking I will get 10 of the VCO (over time of course). It is going to be a
lot of soldering. The VCO is going to make the need for a mixer even greater!!

ditto... ditto.... ditto.... drool...

6 here (over time also). I am planning a 2 voice system with 3 osc per
voice.

Well, you financial position is envied by many I am certain. Be sure to
take plent of photos for those of us that can only get one or two at a
time. We can use it for inspiration. <g>

A veritable MOTM TOTEM.
