Stooge panel update

2001-08-15 by mate_stubb@yahoo.com

Like Larry, I will also begin shipping Stooge panels tomorrow, after
finally getting my mailers today. I'll notify everybody privately
when their order is shipped. Thanks for your patience!

Moe (I have my first day off tomorrow in over a month - yippee!)

Stooge panel update

2001-12-19 by J. Larry Hendry

I am now officially appear on the "most-hated" list at the post office.
Today, 21 boxes of Stooge panels, caps and other such accessories were
shipped to MOTMers. All USA should arrive before Christmas. Overseas, well
who knows. A package recently shipped to the UK got there in 3 days. Seems
like 10 is more normal. I don't try to understand the post office. If I
shipped to you today you will get a note later tonight or tomorrow morning
with your postal delivery confirmation number.

Here is the status of Stooge panels and such:

About 1/2 of the panels were shipped to me from the printer. 1/2 went to
Dave. I got my 1/2 first. All of those I got will be shipped before the
end of this month. Most were actually shipped today. And, just about
everything that does not require drilling will ship tomorrow.

Dave's half has been shipped to him from the printer, but have not yet
arrived. Maybe today or tomorrow. Dave has almost all of the panels that
are to be drilled. I had plenty of other drilling to do (can you say 300
end caps) so Dave is doing most of the panel drilling. So, his panels will
not be delivered as quickly as my half. Dave also has most of the non-drill
items for guys that did not order anything in addition to panels.

There are around a dozen extra panels. MANY of you have already asked about
buying the extras. I have saved ALL of your notes. Once all of the panels
are shipped and any rejects are covered, I will contact you if I have an
extra for you. That will be in early January. I will offer the panels in
the e-mail date/time order of request received. I will happily put all
others on a list to contact you for Stooge panel run round 4 in the spring.

All non-screened products are well stocked up. Flat rails, end caps, all 4
sizes of brackets, 822 PCBs, matched resistors, full rotation rotary
switches are all in stock and I plan to keep it that way so you can get
immediate delivery on those anytime.

The only thing on back order right now is the 831 matched resistors. I
think 3 of you are waiting for those. I have not forgotten about you.

As a side note, today, Stooge Panels, Inc. delivered the first every panel
in the Synthesizer.Com format. It was a Blacet Time Machine. Perhaps John
should be paying Dave and me a commission. <snicker>

Best,
Larry Hendry

Stooge panel update

2002-05-11 by J. Larry Hendry

I am still entering all the orders in my spreadsheet. It is a much more
difficult task this time around since so much of the panel work is for DIY
stuff you guys have been working on. Good for you. Hard on me though. I
know, I asked for it.

Some items of interest:
1 - Since I started this late, I am extending the open order date until May
16. I will order metal May 17th based on the orders I have at that time.
Like always, I order some extra to cover rejects and such. so, I amy be
able to help you after the 16th, but don't count on it. If you want Stooge
panels (or other non-stock or new products) before the we start taking
orders in late fall, then time to order is now. You will notice the time
line is slightly changed.

2 - I have added 3U DIY pricing for those of you that cannot contain
yourself to 2U of panel space. Yes, they are expensive. But, that is a
simple reflection of the added expense of the larger screens. And, Dave and
I need to feed the babies <snicker>

3 - I changed the shipping to $6 per order instead of $5. Postal rates go
up before we ship. So, the increase was needed. We just basely broke even
on shipping last time, so I am assuming we will need to the little extra to
cover the new rates. I'm not hammering myself trying to figure out exactly
how much. What's a buck anyhow?

4 - You may not see you invoice until late next week. I am working on it.
:)

Thanks to all who ordered.

This may be an inapropriate request, but if any of you doing DIY
panels would be interested in sharing your designs, I for one, would
be very interested - if nothing more than to see what others are
doing. Also, some might be interested in offering them to the list to
reduce their per panel and setup costs. I plan to do at least one on
the next go around that would be offered to the list. Just an idea...

Man, that looks sweet! It's a bit out of the meat and potatoes phase
I'm currently in, but nice. Anybody else have designs to share?

Also, thanks to all who responded privately or on the list to my
various questions and comments, I really appreciate the help and
information.

[motm] Re: Stooge panel update (DIY)

2002-05-13 by CHRIS PARKER

Well, I was unable to talk anybody else into backing my design preferences for a Kenton Pro-2000 breakout panel, so I am going ahead and having the stooges do a 2U DIY panel for me. I am going to be eating all of the setup costs myself, so if anybody changes their mind, the stooges may be able to get you a panel for less money after this run.

I like having access to all of the Kenton's inputs...including the MIDIs. Being able to plug my MIDI keyboard directly into the front panel of my system is what I'm really looking for. And I like having a couple of multiples close to my CV/Gate outputs.

The attached low-res bitmap (sorry, I'm artistically challenged in the software area!) shows what I am having made up. Dave is currently working up the artwork in Corel for me.

If any of the other Pro-2000 users on the list is interested, talk to Larry or Dave.

Nice panel, if I had a KP2000, I'd sure consider your design.

Stooge panel update

2002-09-20 by J. Larry Hendry

I picked up the painted metal from the painter yesterday. The parts on top
look beautiful. I'll be doing a quality inspection this weekend, and
shipping these off to the printer early next week. So, albeit late, we are
getting close. :)

Stooge panel update

2003-01-03 by J. Larry Hendry

Our printer reports our panel printing is expected to be done by the end of
next week. After allowing ample drying time and shipping, we should have
the long overdue panels in out hands by mid month. Dave and I will be
splitting up drilling and shipping duty to get them out to you as soon as
possible. I sincerely appreciate everyone's patience.

Dave and I will be making some changes to Stooge panels that will make this
process faster in the future.

Thanks,
Larry

begin QA inspection of the panels this evening. Shipments of
nondrilled panels should start Monday.

Dang Larry, how did you get ahead of me?

Oh yeah that's right, I've been at work until midnight this entire
weekend. Nevertheless, I have now shipped everything except some
orders which need to be drilled. So you should definitely have a
happy email from Larry or me by end of day today, unless you are
waiting on drilling.

OK, the count is final. I have every panel at my end drilled and
ready to ship. I will not be a popular fellow Monday at the post
office. <snicker>

That's because I didn't have to work to midnight and spent all day Sunday
assembly line drilling panels.

Stooge panel update

2003-05-30 by J. Larry Hendry

We have more designs not posted. Several of you have asked for the same
things (like a stereo version of the Equinoxe, a full feature 2U 410, etc.)
Moe is working with many of you finalizing designs. I had hoped this
weekend (when I originally dreamed up this schedule) to assemble the entire
spreadsheet with orders. However, we are lagging a little behind. And, I
am leaving tonight to help my son move to Buffalo New York. I will not
return until LATE Sunday night.

Therefore, you will get no responses from me this weekend. Please continue
to work with Moe on the last of any new panel designs. When I get back I
will start assembling all orders Monday night. I will also post all the new
panel designs available so orders can be changed if needed. I will start
sending out confirmations and invoices next week.

At the suggestion of another listmember, I plan to also send out a "summary"
to this that are ordering panel so you know what is on order and give them
an opportunity to make any additions they might like.

Remember, there is no need to fear the high "one-off" price of a panel if
you order it. If you are the only one to order a particular design, you may
cancel the order for that panel and we will not proceed with the screening
at this time.

Larry

Re: [motm] Stooge panel update

2003-05-30 by Richard Brewster

I'm going for the one-off price anyway for one of my kooky ideas (putting a
MOTM-101 board and two Oakley S&H boards behind one 2U panel). I don't
expect this to attract anyone else. But I mention it to bring to your
attention that by my estimate the Stooge one-off price is still below the
Front Panel Express one-off price. At least it is for this panel with all
the tick marks I put on my FPE designs. Of course I'll have to drill the
Stooge panel myself. But I'll get the Stooge-MOTM quality look and that's
what counts.

Stooge panel update

2003-06-21 by J. Larry Hendry

All Stooge panel metal is already at the printer. The order with all the
new screens has already been submitted to the printer. It is therefore,
without question, too late to make any changes.

The actual panel prices are lower than the posted estimated price except for
two of them. I missed a couple of the 3U panels by about $2 on the low
side.

I will be out of touch until later Sunday night. Thanks to everyone that
ordered. We have 392 panels ordered. I will not get the invoices out until
Monday.

Stooge panel update

Folks,

I am starting to ship selected stooge panel orders tomorrow. All
panels from existing designs have been printed and sent to me
already. So if you didn't order any panels from designs that were new
to this panel run, AND if you are not having Larry ship you extra
stuff, you are at the top of the list.

Anyone who ordered panels make sure that Larry and I have your
current shipping address pronto!

Thanks,
Moe

Stooge panel update

2004-02-12 by J. Larry Hendry

Along with the orders that are coming in, we have many requests for new
panels. I hope tomorrow night to get all the graphics on line for the new
panels that have been requested. If you have a new design that you want for
this round of Stooge panels please let us know about it right away. Send
design info to Dave and copy me.

What can you now expect: In the next couple of days, I will get the panel
page updated with all the new panels and establish some kind of date to say
enough is enough. I will let the list know when the new designs are posted.
After I tally up all the panels I will set prices (based on quantities) and
send out invoices. Remember, if you are the only one ordering a new design,
you can cancel if you cannot stand the price.

Once you get your invoice, I will ask for a quick confirmation that I have
not screwed anything up so that I can get the metal on order.

Thanks to all
Larry Hendry

Stooge panel update

2004-03-29 by J. Larry Hendry

OK, I think I have all the panel orders tallied up. While short of our
record run last year of 400 panels, we still have a nice quantity of about
250. I am still working out the PSIM-1 design with those of you ordering
that.

Tomorrow night, I plan to make the final update to the web pages that
includes all the prices. I will also announce a cut-off date that allows a
couple of days for anyone to fine tune after prices are posted. Invoices
will start going out by the end of this week.

Then, here is what to expect (subject to vendors):
I need about 6 weeks for metal and paint vendors.
I need to allow about 4 weeks for the screener.
I expect to have the finished panels in our hands by mid June.

Here are the top panels ordered (in order)
Neural Agonizer
Veeblefetzer
JLH-822 (for the last of the PCBs)
Miniwave expanded CV ROM select (for new CV PCBs)
Blacet Time Machine (still !! wow !!)
Synth Modules PSIM-1

On a side note, looks like we will be doing 10-15 additional Time Machine
panels in dot com format. Looks like those folks are wanting to join the
bandwagon for reformatting. :) At AHMW 2004, the dot com synth there had a
MOTM-120, 410, 440, 490 and maybe others.

Thanks to everyone who ordered for making this another great run of panels.
I'm sorry for the delay while we sorted this painter thing out.

Larry Hendry

Stooge panel update

2004-05-15 by J. Larry Hendry

I am *still* waiting on metal from the metal shop. Last time we avoided
this wait because I ordered the metal before I took customer orders.
However, we ran short for those last minute add ons. This way, I have
plenty of metal and don't have to say "no" to anyone. After metal arrives
(next week I hope), it will be sent off to paint. Paint time should be 3
weeks. That's one week to ship it across the country to Paul's painter, a
week for paint, and one week to return it.

The printer has a time window for us beginning June 9th. So, we should have
painted panels just about that time and printing will begin right away. So,
at best right now, it looks like panels might be here in late June. I'm
sorry for the delay. But, I am still dealing with issues outside my
control. My painter quit which delayed the entire start and the metal shop
is once again slower than snot.

Some of you may be wondering, "where is my invoice?" Don't worry. It is
coming. I send out a few about every other day. It is a manual process of
copy and paste and edit, and double check to make certain everything is
right. I still have about 1/3 of you to go. Once complete, I will send out
a notice that I have sent all invoices in case I somehow missed someone
altogether (I do screw things up). The good news is that on the current
schedule, and with the extra metal I have on order, I will be able to make
adjustments right up until print time if I have messed anything up.

Thanks to everyone for their patience. As usual, you can expect a top notch
product that never seems to make the original anticipated delivery date. :)

Best,
Larry

Stooge panel update

2004-06-26 by J. Larry Hendry

Well, all 398 panels and misc parts have been painted. They were shipped to
me UPS on Wednesday from the West coast. I should have them Tuesday. The
painter bragged to me on the phone about how nice they looked. :) I will
spend Tuesday night on quality inspection and then off to the printer
Wednesday or Thursday. He is expecting them, so there should be no delay
there.

I have most of the invoices out. Just a few left I plan to take care of
ASAP. Thanks to everyone who paid so promptly. If you are sitting on an
invoice, this would be a nice time to pony up. :) Once all invoices are
out, I will make a list announcement on the slight case that I somehow
missed someone. But, I have checked the orders against your e-mails and I
feel good that I have everything in order. If I have something messed up or
you need to tweak at the last minute, just hammer me and it will happen.

Stooge panel update

2004-08-26 by J. Larry Hendry

Finally, all panels are "in the house." Dave is completing the quality
inspection and will divide the panels up sending about 1/2 of them to me.
He and I will split the drilling and shipping duties and get your panels out
to you as quickly as possible.

Thanks
Larry

Stooge panel update

2004-09-24 by J. Larry Hendry

Well, packing and shipping is going well. Many more of you will get happy
mail from me tomorrow. I plan to fire up the drill press this weekend and
get all my drilling done. I hope by the end of next week to have all of my
part shipped. I'm not sure where Dave is at. He had about 75% of the
drilling duty I think. So, he may be shipping a little later than me. we
had over 80 customers to ship to this time around.

Once again, I appreciate everyone's patience. I am especially pleased with
the appearance of the panel this time. The paint is slightly different than
our past panels. It is actually much closer to the actual MOTM finish.
And, the dot com panels look fabulous.

Stooge Larry.

Stooge panel update

2004-09-28 by J. Larry Hendry

30 panels orders have shipped out my door in the last two business days at
the post office. Many more of you got happy mails today. I have only a few
orders to ship and I will be down to those requiring drilling. I have been
shipping in the same order that I received the orders. It is still my goal
to finish drilling and shipping by the end of the week. Dave is almost
done too except for his drill orders. He will be a little longer than me as
he got stick with most of the drilling. HA ! How did that happen?

Stooge panel update

2004-10-08 by J. Larry Hendry

Just ended a marathon panel drilling session. I finally have all of the
panels that I was to drill finished (except my personal panels, of course).
I'm gonna get a few hours of shut eye. I'll get up early and package all
the orders that I have left and get them sent out tomorrow. Expect happy
mail. Those who have not heard by tomorrow are on Dave's drilling pile.
His pile of drillers was taller than mine, so I expect he is still plugging
away at it.

Stooge panel update

2004-10-18 by J. Larry Hendry

All of my panels were shipped as of one week ago. Dave is just finishing
his now. He has some well deserved time off planned. So, anything he does
not happen to finish will be sent to me for immediate completion. As
always, your patience is appreciated. This drilling takes time when done
right. :-)

Many of you took advantage of a second printing of the Neural Agonizer
panel. I expect to get invoices out for those tonight. They will be
available for immediate shipping.

For those who are already inquiring about the next run, I am thinking
something like this:
December 04, open the order process & add new panels as requested
January 05 order metal
January 05, send out invoices
February 05 have metal painted
March 05 inspect metal and ship to printer
April 05 screen print panels
May 05 inspect, drill, and ship.

Now, that may seem like a slow schedule. But, I'm trying to allow for the
delays of my suppliers so we can actually deliver panels when we say we will
next time. Stooge panel delivery, on time. Wow! Is it possible ?

Larry
