midi/cv question, part 2

midi/cv question, part 2

2001-08-02 by David Shoemaker

Hi again,

I'm still investigating various midi/cv options. Thanks to those of you who
already responded with help in this regard.

Has anyone built or used the following:

PAIA 9700k midi2cv8

or

Oakley mididac2

Any feedback on these two converters as potential choices to drive an MOTM
system?

Thanks,
David

hello all
hello david

i've an original oakley mididac which has been my main convertor ever since
i built it
i think one of the major strength's of the oakley is the motm compatible
panel layout, and the plug-in-and-play ness of it - for instance you have
velocity cv on a jack without any programming
so as an 'installed' controller for your motm, i think it's a good choice -
if you want to go polyphonic, then i think the concensus of opinion tips in
favour of the encore expressionist, also the mididac doesn't convert Hz/V ie
Yamaha CD and Korg MS series synths, if you're after something small yet
versatile, then the Kenton Pro-One is very good
