Boy it was good to read this. I thought I was the only one thinking in these
terms (mention this kind of stuff on the AH list and the kids run around
screaming "heresy!"). Why lose a patch to obscurity when it's so simple to
run a DAT tape, grab every whole-step or so, and toss it in a sampler for
later consumption! Hell, it worked for Tomita 30 years ago (loading tapes of
his Moog into a Mellotron), why not now.

Unrelated: my preference for new units would be (even though they aren't all
on Paul's list)

an envelope follower ('cause I wanna muck with my Clavinet, darnit!)
an A-440 generator
a trigger delay
the single unit VCO
the dual VCA (now that the 110 will be around for a bit longer)

I'd agree that it's probably better to expand the functionality of the
system before duplicating, in smaller packages, any functionality within the
current one.

Even better, use a Kurzweil K2500 or K2600 with Live Mode. This samples
your input, then processes it polyphonically like any other sample
instantly. Instant polyphonic MOTM!
